| He would like to be returned to this life so that he could be martyred again, for he tastes the honor achieved from martyrdom | Swahili - Al-Barwani : Wala kabisa usiwadhanie walio uliwa katika Njia ya Mwenyezi Mungu kuwa ni maiti Bali hao ni wahai wanaruzukiwa kwa Mola wao Mlezi• As for the souls of martyrs, they are inside green birds, like the stars to the rest of the believing souls |

And a group of Quranic commentators mentioned that this verse was revealed about the martyrs of the Battle of Bir Maunah whose story is well known; it was mentioned by Ibn Ishaq ibn Yasar in his book al-Maghazi.

| It is also possible that the river is where all the souls of the martyrs convene and where they are provided with their provision day and night, and Allah knows best | Nay, they are alive, with their Lord, and they have provision |
